The dog crate takes the place of the den, which is deeply embedded into your dog's instincts. The crate should be kept in a room where the dog can go for a retreat to rest.
A dog crate can make an enormous difference in house-training your new puppy. He will not want to do his `business' in the close quarters of the crate.
